“Sugar, spikes and psychedelic lights ”

About

I am an Egyptian-Canadian artist currently based in Japan. I graduated from OCAD university in 2024.

My work speaks to childish irreverence and mischief that tips over into violence. I enjoy exploring cognitive dissonance and the delicate balance of contradicting realities we witness everyday. I am interested in documenting the emotions that arise from being unable to reconcile what we do not want to believe in with the truth and the anger which arises from that. I celebrate rebellion and spaces that allow anger to be expressed safely.

I like to juxtapose prismatic and candy-like use of colour, as well as impressionistic mark making with violent or unsettling subject matter. I like the delicate quality of layering transparent watercolour and colour pencils.
